SKIN79 Hot Pink Super+ BB Cream - Initial Review

Untitled

If you've not already heard of BB Creams, just Youtube it, and I'm sure TONES of hits will come up.

I've always wanted to try BB creams, but never got to. Partly because one of my friends back in high school told me that I wouldn't exactly like it, because I've been using foundation and concealer before that, and she said that I would think BB cream didn't give much coverage or effect and would be a waste of money. So I backed down and kinda gave up on the idea of trying a BB Cream.

2 Years later, here I am, reviewing a BB Cream. I've continously been hearing about how wonderful BB Creams are, and it just SUCKED for me to not know what everyone's been raving about. So I decided that I was gonna try it anyway, even if it did turn out horribly, and even if I had to waste my money on it, so be it.

However, I received the BB Cream over the past weekend from my best friend as a birthday present (it was the one that I've always wanted,) and I was soooo excited to try it out!

The first time that I used it, I just put it over my moisturizer and left it alone. At the end of the day when I took it off, I noticed that my skin kinda started to break out. I've always been afraid of this coming from BB creams, because I have SUPER sensitive skin, and I usually break out when sun proteting ingredients is mixed with skin care ingredients (typical of BB creams).

But fundamental knowledges of makeup told me that I should use it for at least 2 weeks before I fail it since your skin needs to adapt to the product first. As a precaution though, the second time that I used it I did apply a primer underneath it just so that I would have at least some protection on my skin, and this time it was a LOT better!! But I wasn't completely satisfied with the application, because I thought it really didn't give much coverage!! At most, it was probably like a good sunscreen on my face, and maybe it would whiten my skin and that's it.

But, I didn't stop there. I continued using it, and today's been maybe the 4th or 5th time of using it, and I'm really starting to like it! First of all it's DEFINITELY lighter than a foundation on my skin! My skin doesn't oil up as much through out the day, because it can breath through this stuff.

I know a lot of people complain about BB creams not having shade selections, and therefore you never get the correct shade that matches your skin. One thing that most people need to realize about BB creams is that they change colour over time! They will warm up to the surface of your skin, and the longer they are exposed to the air, the more colour it will develop - usually they'll end up being a lot more yellow than when they come out of the bottle. Because BB creams were developed in Asia, they are more concerned with the shade ranges of Asians, and usually if you are anywhere between NC20-NC30 a typicall BB cream will work more or less well on you.

As BB cream gets more popular in North America, there are now a few more different option for people with skin tones that are lighter or darker, but these products are usually harder to find. BB creams are not meant to give really full coverages! They are more for balancing out your skin and protecting it than anything else. So when they change colour, they will blend in with your natural skin colour, and even if there is a slight mismatch in terms of shades it's mostly unnoticed.

Because My main problem has always been dicolouration on my face (it drives me insannnnne!!) the BB Cream works REALLY well for me. Foundation tends offer a lot more coverage, BUT I feel like the pigmentation is overqualified for the job of just balancing out colour on my face...and BB Cream does that perfectly!!

As I become more skilled with BB Cream and how to apply it properly, I can now control how much coverage I actually want, and I can manipulate it enough so that it can act as sort of a camouflage for my blemishes! =D

This obviously is an initial review, because I haven't really used it a lot yet, but I can sort of already say that BB Cream would replace my daily go to at the moment which is my MAC studio fix powder foundation.

I will go into some more detail abou the SKIN79 brand, and why I chose this particular BB cream in a later review. I will also let you know what I think of the BB cream later on after more prolonged use of it.

If you're interested in knowing more please check the source link below, which is the SKIN79 English site.
(I'm not paid or affiliated with them or anything)

Let me know your thoughts on this BB Cream! =)

Thanks for reading this REALLY long post!

Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew Anti Dark Circle Eye Roller

prod-P19111-big

prod-P19021-big

I bought the orginial version of this (the green one) about a year ago, because it was really popular back then.

They were actually advertizing on the subway and I thought it looked promising with all the caffeine and microcirculation things.

I bought it, and like a lot of other products out there, it was more of a gimmick than anything else.

It did de-puff my eyes really well, but it did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for my dark circles!!

But over the past month, these were on sale at Wal-Mart, and I found myself grabbing for them~?!?~ O.O

I guess after a certain amount of time, even though they didn't do anything to my dark circles, I liked the fact that they applied easily and gave a REALLY cool sensation on the skin! The formula is really thin and not greasy or oily and my skin soaked it up well.

And technically, they did reduce my puffiness a LOT...so I kinda fell for the deducted price and bought it again...O.O

What I'm trying to say is that: if you don't have a really bad case of dark circles, and you would like to refresh your eyes and keep away puffiness then I'd suggest you to give this a try~ (get an extra boost of cooling sensation if you keep this in the fridge!)

I wanted to make a comment about the new formula though: the new formula claims to reduce puffiness and also dark circles, but it's also added CONCEALING PROPERTIES INTO THE FORMULA!! I mean...COME ON GARNIER!! you don't add a concealing property to a product that claims to reduce dark circles on its own....that's just...so stupid to me!! when I first saw it I actually LOLed because I thought it was like: yes the produces reduces dark circles, oh but btw~ it has concealer in it!! O.O

Anyway~ that's kind of my little rant today!
Tell me your experiences with this!

DKNY Be Delicious Fresh Blossom - The MOST addicting Perfume Scent EVER!

921c3d3a-02b5-4864-bfc6-77be0af3e37f

I'm sure you all know about the DKNY perfumes already, but I just feel like I have to make a post about it! (I wonder why I didn't do it sooner...)

the DKNY scents are fresh and floral, and I think the overall scent is very lively and feminine - Which suits my personality really well~ (and also suits the brand really well...DUH~ XD)

I like the original DKNY Be Delicious (the gree one) but I'm not super addicted to it! While the original scent is really fresh and clean, I feel like it's also a little spicier than the Fresh Blossom version of Be Delicious, which I'm not crazy over (the spicy scent I mean...)

The fresh blossom to me is a PERFECT blend of sweetness, cleaniness, and warmth and just refreshes my senses so well!!

I'm not allowed to wear perfume on days that I'm working at the hospital, but other than that I love to have this scent on me all day!!

I currently that the duo roller version of the original Be Delicious and the Fresh Blossom from Sephora:
http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P243312&categoryId=B70

But I would LOOOOVE to get the full size bottles for Christmas this year!! =D (HINT HINT BOYFRIEND! haha~)

I think the DKNY perfumes are reasonably priced:
They can range anywhere from $40 for the 1.0 fl. Oz
to $72 for the 3.4 fl. Oz at sephora
(not to mention how adorable the packaging is!)

http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P232320&categoryId=RPYMAL&navAction=jump

And like I said, these could be great christmas presents for anyone that has a bubbly, happy and outgoing personality!!

Let me know what you think of this if you've had it, or are currently using it! =)

Want to get rid of Chapped lips and scars?? VE can help!!

Chapped lips has not been a huge thing that I've had to deal with, but I definitely know a lot of people that has problems with it!

My vocal teacher used to always make fun of us for using chapsticks because they contain alcohol contents that actually works to dry your skin out instead of replenishing them with moisture.

The weather shift from fall to winter is really brutle in Canada, because once the furnace goes on, the air indoors suddenly becomes extremely dry, and that is when I suffer the most from peeling!!

Last week, I accidentally rubbed my lip and it instantly ripped open a huge split on my lips that bled for a couple days! But I have the perfect way of dealing with it!! Vitamin E

yes, Vitamin E is one of those vitamins that we really haven't figured out how exactly it helps your body. But from previous experices I know that Vitamin E is something that you can depend on to help heal wounds and accelerate skin repairment.

If you have chapped lips, dry lips, acne scars, any kind of minor scars, this is what you can do:

Use a Q tip and just dab a bit of Vitamin E oil on it, then spread a thin layer over the surface of your scar or wound or w/e and it'll help it to heal really quickly! and I say scars because it's helped me to reduce the look of breakout scars (yes, I scare easily) on my face!

Please be adviced though: DO NOT USE THIS ON OPEN WOUNDS...you can use this over wounds that have dried out or have a thin layer of newly form skin or even a scab on it (ew gross right? xD) but please do not use this on open wounds!!

One last thought: to obtain the BEST result on lips, you can first apply ONE layer of lip balm and then plaster Vitamin E over it and sleep in them; you'll wake up with the SOFTEST lips ever!! =D

Try it and tell me what you think! =]

p.s. you can use any kind of vitamin E you like - whether it's in capsule form or just bottles of vitamin E oil, they'll all work out fine~

The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Day Cream

This is SOON TO BE RETURNED!!
I'm kind of dissapointed in this, because I've been using the V-E eye cream for a while and it was good, but this thing actually made me allergic!!!
The texture was very thick, and there was a strong scent that I just had a hard time tolerating!

I lost the receipt on this product =( so i'm gonna bring it back and see if they'll take it for an exchange for the Seaweed Toner or the Seaweed matifying gel (both of which i LIVE OFF OF!!!)

Have you ever tried this~?! How did it work out for you?? let me know! =)

I'm an Eyebrow Nanny!!

My eyebrows are the FRUSTRATIONS of my day!!

If I were ever stranded on an island one day i MUST have an eyebrow pencil with me or i'll go insane.

It takes SO MUCH effort to make my eyebrows look even half decent...and i spend so much energy and time grooming them and correcting them, thus the whole nanny part.

for example, if I could do my makeup in 15 min, I will spend at least 8 min or more of that 15min on my eyebrows than anything else...

I wish I was blessed with good eyebrows that I don't have to invest a lot of energy into making them look good, because eyebrows are what define your face, and all other features on the face. Hey, one reason to like the fact of having a lot of hari on your body right? haha!

Because eyebrows are SO important in framing your features, I don't even have the option of slacking off and getting away with not doing my eyebrows! ><

just FYI...I have extremely thin eyebrows and brow powder will just REFUSE to stick to them, and thus I have to use brow pencils! (brow powder looks so much better!) My favourite brow pencil at the moment is by Gosh and I have the shade in Soft Black.

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that's in a situation like this, so I would like to know WHAT'S YOUR FRUSTRATION OF THE DAY?

Pick a feature on your face and let me know how you manage to nanny after your most frustrating moments with them! =)

The most GORGEOUS look I've seen in a looong time!!

My style is really about being simple and CLASSIC! So when I saw this makeup tutorial on Youtube by Pixiwoo, I thought I HAD to share it!! It was the BEST combination of both worlds for me!!

the look is actually INSANELY simple, but the visual impact that I get from it is like none other.

Pixiwoo sisters are two of my FAVOURITE makeup gurus on Youtube, partly because I think they get SO creative with makeup. It's not the typical aesthetic stuf that everyone else does, but it's more about expression for them and making it look their own. And of course I think there's a lot of common grounds between my taste in some things and theirs.

I think this is what I'll be wearing to my X'mas dinner with friends this year!! and the best thing about this is that you don't need an expensive outfit, a SIMPLE little black dress will serve the look PERFECTLY.

Tell me what you think of this!

Estee Lauder & Co. (MAC!!!) warehouse sale!!

If you're lucky enough to live in Toronto, chances are you know about the MAC (Estee Lauder and companies') warehouse sales! (did you all know that MAC is a Canadian company~!!! =DD)

LOL~ anyhoo! these warehouse sales take place every 3 months (march, june, sept, dec) and this time it's taking place:
DECEMBER 3, 2010 - DECEMBER 5, 2010

now...this is an invitation only event, and as you can see on the ticket (that was mine the last time I went in June) that they restrict the selling of these tickets. BUT!! where there's a will there's always a way~~ and trust me there are TONES of ppl that are selling these tickets around on the internet! (NOT that I'm promoting this!!!)

The discounts are AMAZING!! Last time I was able to get lipsticks for $5 each, and face products for as cheap as $12!!! and you guys remember the old packging giant jars of pigment~?! yea...that was $9!!!

The best thing: They have complimentary gifts EVERY TIME!! (I missed the good gifts last time, but i heard it was lady blush cream blush...O.O)

I ABSOLUTE think this is THE way to go, if you're thinking about doing massive gift give-aways during the holiday season!

If you are a Tdot girl, and if you do get your hand on an opportunity like this! DON'T HESITATE and go for it!!!

P.S. I forgot to mention they have TONES of LIMITED EDITION things there!!! the ones that usually run out like the first 2 hours that sales start, you can be expecting to find them at the warehouse!!

Anyway, if you're going, let me know! or just leave a comment anyway~ =)

Update on 30 day challenge…

Yesterday was the first day that I skipped my 30 day challenge

the reason: because the posts got really repetitive.

Ever since I got beyond the 10th day, I started posting things like: I’ve already done that.

The topics just got really similar to previous posts in the earlier stages of the challenge, and I really didn’t feel like doing something that i’ve already done on my blog…I know how annoying it can be to have these updates pop up in the updates on your home page.

So I’ve decided to stop the 30 day challenge. While is was fun in the beginning, I think the whole challenge lost its value to me.

I’ve also started blogging on LUUUX which dare I say that I’ve been updating very frequently, much more frequently than blogging.

Anyway.

New videos soon…hopefully.

Cheers~!

CAKE BEAUTY = TEMPTATION!!!

_122201042504

I should NOT have walked into Sephora today!

After seeing a couple of videos on the Cake Beauty Body Hydrating Moisture Milk, I walked stright over to try it out!

When you spray it, it's a fine watery mist, that's kind of milky white in colour.

It has a very nutty fragrence which I personally do not mind at all.

When you rubb the liquid in, it leaves your skin SOOO SOFT!!

I think it's incredibly moisturizing! My moisturizer now is kind of a little too light for me. But with this added to my moisturizing routine, I think it could just make it PERFECT!!

It wasn't sticky or greasy at all! but just felt like it was very refreshing and my skin just soaked it all up!!

I did not get an allergic reaction on my wrist yet so I can't wait to go back and get a sample to try out!!!

I think the trio with the other shower cream and sugar scrub would be a really good deal too!! ><

Early birthday present, and RED card from Starbucks

Teehee!!

Sam got me my early birthday present and I’m so happy about it!!! xD

Cuz it’s something that’s been on my wish-list of things to buy before x’mas and I finally “got” it!!!

It’s a lipstick from MAC’s Venomous Villains collection called “Heartless”

DSC01876

DSC01879

DSC01880

DSC01882    ADORABLE packaging as always. The photo is a bit untrue to the actual colour of the lipstick. In reality, this is actually more of a cool and blue undertoned red. It’s very lively and vibrant and I think it’s GORGEOUS with simply just some eyeliner and mascara!! It’s REALLY great particularly for Christmas, because red goes so well with the holiday’s colour theme!

I think this is somewhat similar to my Anna Sui – Sui Rouge V, which is why it caught my attention in the first place, but this is wayyyyy more pigmented (Anna Sui is actually somewhat sheerer.)

Anyway, I will soon do a lipstick post and show you some dupes and swatch.

I’ll also be uploading a wish-list!! Something that I think would be very helpful during Christmas time~xD haha!

I’ve been kind of going on a splurge this month, and I really need to hold on tight to my wallet now until before x’mas…T.T

Bought this pair of earrings today from H&M and I think they’re really classy and can easily go with any colour:

DSC01875 Also went ahead and got a Starbucks’ RED card:

DSC01883 I’ve become a regular customer at Starbucks now…and it seems like such a hassle to be always carrying cash around with me. This is also going to a very good cause: 5 cents from your every purchase will be going towards RED in helping out with HIV in Africa!

For more info: http://www.joinred.com

(I’m not paid or affiliated with them, everything written is my own opinion and purchased with my own money…-.-)

Anyway, I encourage everyone who gets a chance to check RED out, and maybe see if there’s a way that you can contribute to this project.

Thanks for reading!

Day 9. a photo of something you've been wanting to do

This is what I’ve really really wanted to do:

(Stole this picture off of Google…><)

Anyway…make-up school!! I really wanted to get certified and be able to to this professionally, but these courses are really expensive, and plus, not matter how open minded my parents are, they’re still Asian. I’m not forced to become a doctor or engineer (I chose the med school pathway myself…) but they’re still not super up to the idea of making a living off of things like art (precisely the reason why I did not enrol in music…something that I’ve done since when I was 3 and actually am quite good at…>.>)

However, as of yesterday, I’ve officially made this my Plan C! If all else fails, ie. Plan A – going to med school and Plan B – grad school , make-up is going to be what I’ll be living off of there and then.

Hope you’ve enjoyed!

(P.S. I got tired of the “that’s it for now” ending…so I’m going to stop using it…)

Very Exciting!!

I got to do my FIRST EVER photo-shoot makeup today!!!

Well, my friend’s friend is doing a thing for a photography class project, but EITHER WAY…it was something that I’ve never done before and I was just so excited for it!!! eeeeek! lol!

The whole thing was pretty simple, so let me share with you what I brought with me!

1) My Coastal Scent’s 88 E/S and Blush and contouring palette - I ADORE these, because they have a full range of colour to pick and choose from and they’re extremely convenient to carry around!!
2) I had my Coastal Scent’s pink blush set with me, along with some random general brushes varying from ELF to Sephora brushes depending on what I used them for.
3) I also had my Duo dark tone with me for falsies – FAILURE THOUGH BECAUSE I FORGOT TO BRING A PAIR OF SCISSORS WITH ME!!!!! T.T FML
4) I had my Evian Spray, and my favourite powder – MAC Studio Fix powder foundation
5) I had my MUFE HD powder for setting, and also my Bare Escentual Illuminating Mineral Veil
6) I carried along my sample sized MUFE HD blush in #4 and also my Anna Sui eye glitter for the E/S base
7) I took a little bit of my Gold Mode pigments with me
8) and also some primers, and tinted moisturizers, and concealer:
9) As for eyeliners and mascaras, I had my MUFE Aqua Black, Maybelline Falsies, and also the Cover Girl eyeliner (forgot the exact name, the one that’s like UD 24/7):

and…that’s pretty much it!!

The concept was really simple: the project was suppose to represent an ad of some sort, and to illustrate basic colour principles. So we were kind of selling…well…COLOUR!! Which is such a fun and simple theme to be working with, I mean, colours…that’s what makeup is all about isn’t it!!!

The requirement was to present at least 3 different colours, and so I picked: Gold, Bright Fuscia, and PURPLE! Did a really bright and vibrant 3-toned semi-smokey and had  really palely flushed cheeks and nude lips!

This was the final result:

DSC01891DSC01892DSC01893DSC01897DSC01898 Sam was my model today – I had a LOT of fun! and she was amazing!! (as always! <3) These were taken with my Sony camera, but I can’t wait until the actual photos come out!!! ^^

Hope you’ve enjoyed!

That’s it for now! =)

Day 8. a photo of your favourite band/musician

I’m a music freak myself…and I had a band in high school.

We were a GOOD band too…O.O

and we managed to win battle of the bands hands down…

so…I kinda don’t really have a favourite band….because I play music…I’m always very judgemental and critical of others. There’s always something that I like, and then something that I find I don’t like about a musician or band.

So, my answer to today’s post is…

I don’t have one!

Day 7 – A photo of someone you love

I want to change that a photo of people you love instead of someone you love, because:

DSC00005

This is a picture of mommy and daddy…I love them to death, and my family just means absolutely EVERYTHING to me~~

and then…there’s this person: xD

p_large_IwSM_225d0004bab12d13

I don’t think I need to say more about him…

Finally there the best friends:

img023 can you spot me~? xD

Anyway hope you had fun looking at these!

That’s it!

Edit:

There are a few certain individuals that I don't have pictures for but still mean SO MUCH to me in my life right now (and I hope it stays that way too):

Zhang - The Jerk...

Wang - The Nerd

SWong - My Crazy Makeup/Shopaholic Lover!!!

Even though I have all these wacky descriptions of them, they still are, nonetheless, the centre of my social life haha~ yea...I couldn't do without anyone of these guys!

That’s it for nowww~

Day 5 - A photo of your favourite book

I don’t read a lot, mainly because all the required reading for my classes are enough to drown me.

I must admit, I have this secrete fetish for young adult books…I mean…I’m not much of a language person, and I prefer to read books that are SIMPLE and do not involve tons of words that I’d have to look up midway through reading (I’m quite poor with words really…-.-)

My FAVOURITE series of books of ALL times is the Shopaholic Series by Sophie Kinsella.

Now…I may not be “the biggest fan” of the series out there, but I sure have loved it ever since…..FOREVER long ago…O.O (maybe grade 8?)

On the side: I really adore Sophie Kinsella’s books. They are fun to read, REALLY related to real life (I mean…HAHA…yea…talk about being a shopaholic with makeup right~?! xD) and it’s as girly as you can get with books!

Anyway…If you’re girly, and would like to enjoy a simply relaxing read…Definitely go check this series out…if you haven’t ALREADY.

That’s it for now!

P.S. Really really really need to read the latest Mini Shopaholic…><!!
